Borrowing rules
Lending policies
-
A user may borrow documents from the library collection home only in the lending room, based on a signature on the relevant library card. The user must come to borrow the document in person.
-
The lending of some documents (periodicals, especially valuable documents) is limited to on-site borrowing only, i.e. only in the study room.
-
Users have free access to the library collection in the lending and study areas. Arbitrary movement of documents is prohibited. Users are obliged to return books to their original place when studying in person.
Loan periods
-
The loan period for documents borrowed outside the library is 30 days.
-
The 30-day loan period can be extended three times upon request, unless another reader requests the loan.
-
Students with specific needs have an extended loan period of 60 days.
-
The return date of a borrowed document is determined by the library information system.
-
The library may, if it deems it necessary, also determine a shorter loan period or request the return of documents before the loan period expires.
-
The user can extend the loan period either in the library, independently - through the online catalog, by phone, or by requesting the library to extend it by e-mail.
-
The extension must be made before the loan period expires.
-
Extension of the loan period is not possible if the reader has any violations (loans not returned on time, unpaid reminders) or if the document has been reserved by another reader.
-
If the requested document is on loan, the library can reserve it free of charge at the user's request.
-
For documents made available as part of the interlibrary loan service, the user is obliged to comply with the loan period set by the relevant library.
-
After the loan period expires, the library charges penalty fees according to the price list.
-
UCM students who are finishing or interrupting their studies are required to submit to the study department a confirmation from the library that all obligations to it have been settled.
-
UCM employees are required to submit a confirmation of the return of all library documents to the Human Resources Department upon termination of employment.
-
When returning a document, the user can request the issuance of a confirmation of its return.
Number of borrowed books
-
The library has the right to regulate the number of loans.
-
A user can borrow home a maximum of 10 books.
Reader's responsibility for the borrowed document
-
The user is obliged to inspect the borrowed document and report any defects immediately. If he/she fails to do so, he/she is responsible for any damage discovered later and is obliged to reimburse the library for the costs of repairing the document upon return.
-
The user is obliged to return the borrowed document in the same condition in which he/she received it (including documents borrowed through ILL) and to receive a confirmation of its return. Underlining text, writing notes in documents, damaging codes, etc. is not permitted.
-
The user may also return the borrowed document by mail, but must pack it carefully and send it as a registered or insured parcel. The user is responsible for the document until the library receives it.
-
Document loans can be renewed again, i.e. immediately after the expiration of the extended loan periods, to borrow the same document, if another user does not request the document. The applicant for renewal of the loan must bring the requested document for inspection.
-
The user can return the borrowed document through the BIBLIOBOX.
Losses and compensation damages
-
In the event of loss or damage to a document, the user is obliged to report the damage or loss of the document to the UCM University Library and compensate for all damages incurred as a result.
-
The user must provide compensation within the agreed period, which must not be longer than one month from the reporting of the event.
-
The library requests compensation in the following forms:
-
by delivering an intact copy of the same document in the same edition and binding of reasonably equal quality
-
replacement by delivery of another (in principle, a newer) edition of the same document
-
replacement of a lost document with another title - after agreement with the relevant library employee
-
The user is also obliged to cover all costs incurred by the library in connection with damage or loss of the document.
-
The method of compensation and the deadline within which the user must compensate for the damage will be determined by the library.
-
Until the method of compensation is resolved and all claims are settled, the library has the right to suspend the provision of all services to the reader.
Borrowing regulations of the Interlibrary Loan Service and the International Interlibrary Loan Service
-
If a user needs a document that the library does not have in its collection, they can request a loan from another library in Slovakia through the interlibrary loan service.
-
If a user needs a document that is not in the collections of any library in Slovakia, the library can, upon request, arrange for the loan of the document from abroad through the international interlibrary loan service.
-
The library does not charge any fees for these services, but the user must reimburse the full amount of postage and costs if charged by the supplying library.
-
When borrowing through these services, both the library and the user are obliged to comply with the borrowing conditions set by the lending library.
-
When borrowing through these services, it is only possible to study documents in person.
-
Documents are lent to other libraries only if they are located outside of Trnava.
-
A user can request a maximum of 5 documents at a time through interlibrary loan service and international interlibrary loan service.
